Abstract

The article presents the results of surgical treatment of bleeding from varicose veins of the esophagus and stomach in patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis. The study included 55 patients. The median age was 50.5±12.7 years. The vast majority of patients had clinical signs of severe liver failure in accordance with the criteria Child-Turcotte-Pugh (class B - 7, class C - 48 patients). Two groups were distinguished among the patients. In the first group, patients underwent only endoscopic ligation. The second used a combination treatment: laparoscopic gastric and esophageal devascularization with pre-or intraoperative endoscopic ligation of esophageal veins. The obtained results indicated an increase in the survival rate of patients in the second group.
