Обследовано 442 мужчины и 608 женщин в возрасте 20-75 лет. Измеряли длину тела, массу тела, окружность талии и окружность бедер. Рассчитывались антропометрические индексы: отношение талии к окружности бедер, отношение талии к длине тела и индекс массы тела. Уровень общего холестерина в крови натощак определяли с помощью экспресс-анализатора SD LipidoCare.</p></sec><sec><title>Результаты</title><p>Результаты. Медианные значения общего холестерина составили у мужчин - 4,6 [3,8; 5,4] ммоль/л, у женщин - 5,0 [4,2; 5,8] ммоль/л, различия статистически значимы (р=0,0002). Избыточная масса тела и ожирение, определяемые по величине индекса массы тела, встречались у 58,8% мужчин и 55,4% женщин, при оценке по величине окружности талии - 42,8% и 51,3% соответственно. Увеличение массы тела сопровождалось повышением уровня общего холестерина в плазме крови в обеих половых группах. Статистически значимые различия в уровне общего холестерина у лиц с избыточной массой тела и ожирением отсутствовали. Шансы развития гиперхолестеринемии выше в случае наличия абдоминального ожирения, по сравнению с избыточной массой тела и ожирением, оцененным по индексу массы тела.</p></sec><sec><title>Заключение</title><p>Заключение. Наиболее значимыми прогностическими предикторами гиперхолестеринемии является индекс отношения окружности талии к длине тела и повышенные значения окружности талии.</p></sec></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Objective - to study the associations of total blood cholesterol with body mass index and waist circumference in people aged 20-75 years.</p><sec><title>Materials and methods</title><p>Materials and methods. 442 men and 608 women aged 20-75 years were examined. Body length, body weight, waist circumference and hip circumference were measured. Anthropometric indices were calculated: waist-to-hip ratio, waist-to-length ratio, and body mass index. The level of total cholesterol in fasting blood was determined using an SD LipidoCare express analyzer.</p></sec><sec><title>Results</title><p>Results. The median values of total cholesterol were 4.6 [3.8; 5.4] mmol/L in men and 5.0 [4.2; 5.8] mmol/L in women, with statistically significant differences (p=0.0002). Overweight and obesity, defined by body mass index, were found in 58.8% of men and 55.4% of women, while waist circumference was estimated at 42.8% and 51.3%, respectively. The increase in body weight was accompanied by an increase in the level of total cholesterol in blood plasma in both sex groups. There were no statistically significant differences in total cholesterol levels in overweight and obese individuals. The chances of developing hypercholesterolemia are higher in the case of abdominal obesity, compared with overweight and obesity, estimated by body mass index.</p></sec><sec><title>Conclusion</title><p>Conclusion.
