Pharmacy Department of FPE of the Kursk State Medical University, Kursk The review outlines the main approaches to the pharmacoeconomic evaluation of drug therapy for example, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), as well as analyzes the possible use of each of the existing methods with regard to nosology. On the basis of available literature current foreign and national experience has been summarized concerning usage of such analysis in the health care practice of the treatment of COPD. Feasibility and potential of the pharmacoeconomic approach to improve provision of medicines for patients with COPD have been assessed in the Russian state system for certain categories of citizens welfare as a set of social services.
